Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles following her one year stay at University. She was a part of the audition for the part at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. In 2002, Canadian reviewers praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. She accepted the invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. It is a place which allows just four men and eight women are able to take the 20-week crash program in classical theatre. Contractor received a guaranteed spot for the following season and was given the role as Hermia.
